String Quintet in C Major, D.956
Neither Franz Schubert (1797-1828) nor his String Quintet in C Major for 2 Violins, Viola and 2 Cellos need any introduction. Both are famous. And yes, this string quintet is available elsewhere.
However, this Quintet in an alternate arrangement for 2 Violins, Viola, Cello and BASS is not readily available. And nowhere is it available in as fine an arrangement as that by Dr. Anthony Scelba, the noted Bass soloist, teacher and arranger.
This arrangement not only entirely retains the character of the original but provides an added dimension of depth to the work. But you don't have to take our word for it. Listen to the soundbites of a CD with Dr Scelba and the faculty members of Kean University playing the Quintet in this outstanding arrangement.
Not only bassists will delight in this fine arrangement.
